Quite a number

Microsoft revealed at CES that 18 million Kinect sensors have been sold around the world since it launched in November 2010.

While an impressive milestone, it should be noted that Kinect sales have slowed since launch. Last April, Microsoft reported 10.5 million Kinect sensors had been sold in its first six months; eight months on, and with a successful holiday season behind it, Microsoft has added 7.5m sales to that tally. Compare that to the 8 million Kinect sensors sold in two months and things seem a little bleaker.

It's worth remembering though that these figures are sensors sold to retailers, not consumers, so it makes sense the numbers would be higher at launch than later on.

Still, 18m isn't a figure to be sniffed at.
