Block! Strike!

Playing Fighters Uncaged is a pretty good workout, not least because the game rarely recognises your movements, but publisher Ubisoft is going one better and teaching you to defend yourself while getting fit at the same time. Meet My Self Defence Coach for Kinect.

The Kinect-exclusive game will teach players to protect themselves through instruction from a real-life self defence instructor, focusing on four key areas: technique, stamina, composure and reflexes. There's also some Tai Chi to help you relax after learning how to kick seven bells out of any potential assailant.

My Self Defence Coach sneaks up behind the UK on 11th November.

UBISOFT® ANNOUNCES MY SELF DEFENCE COACH EXCLUSIVELY ON KINECTTM FOR XBOX 360®

London, UK — October 4th, 2011 — Today, Ubisoft announced the upcoming release of My Self Defence Coach, to be available exclusively on Kinect™ for Xbox 360®. The first video game of its kind, My Self Defence Coach helps players develop the self-confidence they need to react more efficiently when facing troublesome situations, and allows players to discover ways of protecting themselves from various forms of physical assault. My Self Defence Coach is set to release in the UK on November 11, 2011.

My Self Defence Coach combines fitness workouts and self-defence drills into four primary categories critical to self-defence: technique, stamina, composure and reflexes. Kinect’s innovative tracking technology provides players with immediate feedback on their movements, helping to make the basics of self-defence easy regardless of the player’s skill level. These self-defence techniques are taught by an experienced, real-life self-defence coach.

Players will get in shape as they learn new skills with fitness routines inspired by both kickboxing and martial arts. They will also improve their reflexes with a collection of fun mini-games. To help players sharpen their minds as well as their bodies, My Self Defence Coach also incorporates meditative forms of exercise; a collection of soothing Tai Chi exercises instruct users on how to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
