Exclusive Michael Phelps: Push the Limit Gameplay Trailer

Posted Wed, 28 Sep 2011 by James Newton

A masterstroke?

A masterstroke?

We've got it first

We've already seen a trailer this week showing how to play Michael Phelps: Push the Limit, but it didn't contain too much in-game footage of 505 Games' upcoming aquatic attraction. Now we have the exclusive on a brand new gameplay trailer.

The footage shows some of the in-game arenas, including a rainy skyscraper and what seems to be a fiery cave, as well as a range of strokes and swimmers.

Anyway, without further ado here's the KINECTaku-exclusive trailer.

Gfx look really good which makes it all the sadder that this isn't going to sell...I can't work out why they thought this would be a good idea, who is going to want to stand on the spot spinning their arms around? That said I'll be interested to see how it reviews.

I thought at the beginning it was going to be an exercise title meshing swim focused exercises with the likes of Your Shape Fitness Evolved. After having seen these trailers I would have included it rather on Kinect Sports Season 2 - not as a standalone game.

Having said that. This is a good indication of Kinect going through its baby phases. We'll see these kind of games - remember Hulk Hogan is also on the way... - for the following 2~3 years and then when developers can finally get their head around what works and what does not and get comfortable with the gadget, things will start to quiet down and we'll get the set genres (like sports, mini games, dance) for Kinect, and the additional add-ons for other core games like they are doing now with Hal0 4, Mass Effect 3, and TC's Ghost (we still have to see how all of this will play out, though).
