Ubisoft: in good shape

1 in 5 sensor sales goes to Ubi

Remember when we said Ubisoft held the third-party Kinect crown? The extent of the publisher's dominance has become clear thanks to its financial reports which show the multinational company holds a huge 21% market share on the sensor in Europe.

Over in the US the company holds a slightly low 18% share, which still equates to nearly 1 in every 5 games sold belonging to Ubisoft. Fitness title Your Shape: Fitness Evolved has spearheaded the publisher's success on the sensor, though mediocre titles such as Fighters Uncaged and MotionSports have undoubtedly attracted sales too.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, had this to say:

We have already proven that we seize opportunities offered by new hardware with the Wii and the DS, and we are further proving it with the recently-launched Kinect, which has met with outstanding success thanks to its revolutionary interface.

Up-and-coming shooter Child of Eden, dancing title Dance on Broadway and shamone-a-thon Michael Jackson: The Experience are all due within the next six months, and should help Ubi cement this dominant position on Kinect.
