Will Dance Central emerge triumphant?

Four out of six ain't bad

It's awards season in the media, and although the games industry hasn't got a high-profile ceremony to rival the Grammys or the Oscars that's not to say it has no awards to speak of. In the UK, the British Academy of Film and Television has just announced the nominees for the GAME British Academy Video Game Awards, with several Kinect titles nominated.

Predictably the sensor leads the field in the Family category, where Kinect-exclusive games make up four of the six nominees, with Dance Central nominated for the overall GAME Award of 2010, the only award voted for by the public. Kinectimals is also up for Technical Innovation, the only sensor game in the category.

This is the first time in recent memory that Nintendo hasn't received a single nomination in the Family category, indicating that Kinect's launch had a big impact on the gaming landscape.

The GAME British Academy Video Games Awards will take place on Wednesday 16 March, and will be streamed live for the first time at www.bafta.org and www.baftagameaward.com.
