What could it be?
The name High Voltage Software may not mean much to you know, but Nintendo Wii owners will recognise the company primarily for its work on The Conduit and impending follow-up Conduit 2. The studio isn't just working on Nintendo formats, however – chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger revealed to Eurogamer that a Kinect game is in the works at the Chicago-based developer.
Nofsinger confirmed the game is a licensed property and that publisher 2K is on board to bring the game to market. Gamers hoping for the sensor's first dedicated first-person shooter might be disappointed however by the news that game will support, not require Kinect. Nofsinger says:
This game works well with or without the Kinect. It's supported as a device, so if you have the device it works very well, but I don't think it's this brilliant, genius idea. It works really well because it's a 360 game. I don't think it necessarily works really well because it's a Kinect game.
It's unusual to hear a developer downplaying its own game from the start, but with a revelation planned around the time of Game Developer's Conference later this month, we won't have too long to find out exactly what High Voltage has up its sleeves.
