Not coming to Kinect this year, sadly

But not this year

The bad news is that EA ran out of time to bring Tiger Woods to Kinect this year, but it's not game over for the idea of a hands-free golf game.

Lead designer on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters Mike DeVault spoke to Eurogamer about the sensor's potential, and although the didn't give any specifics it looks like future outings may see the motion-sensing gadget supported:

Kinect is something we're very interested in and something we're looking to build towards in the future.

Do you think a club-less golf game is a good idea? Could Kinect do a proper job of sensing the intricacies of a golf swing? Let us know in the comments.

Well Tiger Woods admitted to his then wife he had 120 affairs, including ones with porn stars. I think thats the reason why we won't be seeing it this year.

Oh, and I think it would be better with a physical golf club with various sensor points on it. Its a pity you can't scan items in like it originally showed you :P

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 is out in March on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii, but the 360 version doesn't use Kinect, which has got nothing to do with Mr Woods' infractions.

I thought they would have stayed clear of him considering he's hardly a great role model anymore. I guess the $ is more important though.

I've been dying for a golf game to come out for Kinect, wondering if you'll actually face your TV/Kinect or turning sideways, allowing the sensor to capture a quarter swing, half swing, etc, with even greater accuracy. I'd prefer no golf club, because I don't want to smash things on my mantle, and I also don't want to pay $50 for a plastic golf club with sensors on it.

Interesting idea, it would be interesting to see how accurately it could detect your swing if you were side-on to the TV as you are with Sonic Free Riders, for example.

Maybe you'd stand and face the sensor so it can read your motion properly? We'll have to wait and see!
