Kinect Sports Scores Top Five Place in UK Charts

Nearly a chart knockout

Nearly a chart knockout

8 titles in top 40

Whilst there was never any doubt that Call of Duty: Black Ops was going to land in the chart top spot, the launch of Kinect should have made the top 10 a more exciting line-up than usual, but disappointingly only one title for the sensor made the higher reaches of the chart.

With sales of Kinect Adventures seemingly not counted, it was left to Rare's Kinect Sports to outsell its competition, reaching a very impressive fourth spot in the chart behind Call of Duty, FIFA 11 and Just Dance 2 on Wii.

Highly-fancied groove 'em up Dance Central was the next biggest-seller for the sensor, in at 13th, one place above Ubisoft's Motion Sports.

Padding out the rest of the chart was woeful brawler Fighters Uncaged at 23, fluffy Kinectimals at 26, overpriced Kinect Joy Ride at 30, sweaty Your Shape: Fitness Evolved at 33 and a game about which we are still undecided, Sonic Free Riders, in at number 38.

Although no solid sales or attach figures are available, and the presence of eight Kinect titles in the top 40 is a good achievement, considering the sensor requires all-new games to play we would have expected higher positions for some of these titles.
